The National Organization of Romanian Scouts, Suceava Local Group, announces the project “Hand Made Eco Stuff” financed by the European Comission through the Youth in Action Programme ( Sub-Action 1.1 – Youth Exchange)
Therefore, between 8th-22nd of August 2011, in the town of Saliste, Sibiu county, Romania this project will bring together 40 participants from 4 European countries: Spain (Minyons Escoltes is Guies Sant Jordi de Catalunya ), France (Scouts et Guides de France), Czech Republic (Junak- svaz skautu a skautez CR), Romania (Organizatia Nationala “Cercetasii Romaniei”, Filiala Suceava). The main objective of this Youth Exchange is to promote Environment Protection. The result of all its activities will be a series of instalations which will use certain types of alternative energies such as solar and eaolian energy.
Among the activities in which all the participants will be involved we have prepared: debates, workshops, coaching sessions on environmental matters. Also they will be encouraged to explore the concepts of “sustainable development”, “global warming”, “alternative energy”.
Considering the fact that there are very distinctive ways of relating to Ecology in each of the participating countries, we will try to explore these differences but also the similarities, we will share our own experiences and we will try to find some new and innovative solutions to certain issues which affect our environment.
We also know very well that the year of 2011 is the International Year of Volunteering therefore we find this Youth Exchange a great opportunity for all of us to promote the importance of the volunteers in present day society.
Last but not least we would like to mention that our project has a social dimension. We want to involve youngsters which come from families with fewer financial possibilities and we will do so by involving from each country two such participants.
To summarize, some of our objectives refer to:
-the use of non-formal means of education
-exploring of our own “Eco Cultures” and those of the other participants.
- breaking down social barriers by living and working for two weeks in the same conditions
-explorating of certain concepts related to environment protection
-construction of instalations that use alternative enregy
- promoting volunteering
